This is an incredible large painting, it is an important turning point of Picasso's art career, and also it is revolutionary breakthrough of western modern art history, because this painting triggered Cubism movement.
The Young Ladies of Avignon was begun to paint in 1906, finished in 1907. Paintings in five naked women and a group of still life .Painting of three naked women in the left are classical rigid body deformation; but other two naked women in the right are wild images of original art.
Picasso used the original art to destroy classical aesthetic, this painting just like "A land of broken glass". In the process of creating this painting, Picasso broke lots of things (rules). But after breakings Picasso created many new things. What are the new things? When I first saw this painting, I was so impressed, all the breakage in perfect order; everything in the painting is sliced into several images. If I look into very image, I feel a very strong three-dimensional feeling. I'm not sure they are concave or convex. But every image is connecting to each other that make the painting continuity and integrity.
